Description

Kawai CA49 Digital Piano

Proceeding the CA48, the Kawai CA49 Digital Piano continues the legacy of premium digital pianos with new features and improvements.  In collaboration with Onkyo, Kawai introduces a new motherboard and amplification system to deliver rich, high fidelity audio.  For an organic and genuine playing experience, the CA49 retains the Grand Feel Compact wooden-key keyboard action and piano sources of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX and the Kawai EX Concert Grand Pianos.  The CA49 is improved with reduced volume levels, along with an updated control panel.  The CA49 demonstrates playing excellence, providing pianists of all levels an immaculate piano experience.

Touch

The Grand Feel Compact keyboard action gives the CA49 its authentic piano touch.  All 88-keys are made from long wood pieces, applied with Ivory touch key surfaces.  The hammers are grade-weighted, with bass counterweights.  Like an acoustic grand, the keys rest on a pivoting metal balance pin, with extended length for an evenly-balanced touch weight.  The let off-simulation notifies the players with light ‘notch’ sensation, for aided control for delicate passages of music.  The CA49 is able perform soft, rapid trills, due to its responsive triple-sensor key detection system that registers repeated notes with accuracy and consistency.

Tone

Through the use of Progressive Harmonic Imaging, the CA49 faithfully replicates the sounds of the world-renowned Shigeru Kawai SK-EX full concert grand piano and the Kawai EX concert grand.  Kawai meticulously recorded the grand pianos to capture their broad dynamic range and unique characteristics.  Through this extensive process, Kawai was able to produce the CA49 to play with an exceptional range of expressiveness for players to explore.

The Grand Feel Pedal system offers players three pedal options: sustain (with half-pedal support), soft, and sostenuto.  The pedaling system makes an indicator sound that replicates the sound of an acoustic damper head touching and releasing strings.  Varying speeds affects the volume of this damper noise- with fast pedaling, the sound is more pronounced.  This sound is adjustable, to suit the player’s preference.

Features

The CA49 offers many features that add to its versatility.  The Spatial Headphone Sound technology enhances the realism of the pianos sound when listening through headphones.  This is perfect for discerning players who wish to practice quietly or privately.  Lesson books are programmed into the CA49, ranging from beginner to advance levels.  A metronome and internal recorder aids players to critically review their playing.

Bluetooth MIDI technology that allows wireless connection with smart devices.  Kawai created a number of apps to enhance the digital piano experience, one of the most notable is the Virtual Technician.  The Virtual Technician which allows users to refine various parameters of their CA49 to fit their musical needs and style in real time.

Standard MIDI jacks are available for connecting to other instruments.  Complementing the acoustic piano sources, the CA49 includes a small variety of other instrument presets, from electric piano, strings, choirs, and synth pads.
